We meet every Monday between 10am and 12 noon in the Church building during school term time. There is no set curriculum or exams. Students are taught what they want to learn – for example enough English to read the permission notes sent home from school or to go on your own to the doctor and ask questions about your own illnesses. Some students may wish to learn to speak confidently on the telephone or wish to make themselves understood to others in the community.
The service is available to anyone who may need to make themselves understood in any social setting. The first couple of lessons are free and then we ask for a small donation to cover our photocopying bill of $2 per lesson.
We’ve often been asked how much learning is going on in our classes when everyone seems to be laughing: ‘Lots!’
